Program objectives The Master’s degree in International Development (MID) at PSIA offers innovative training in international development based on a renewed approach to sustainable economic growth and political practices. PSIA’s program in International Development aims to train the next generation of development specialists by building on the profound transformation of the development discussion. Main orientations and specific features The curriculum builds up on a strong intellectual background in development studies favoring critical postures using academic analysis and practitioners’ experience of global governance and the multifaceted question of sustainability. It combines it with intensive training in finance, economics, public policy, at the global to local level, project design, management and evaluation. It provides an introduction to multiple actors (from public agencies to NGOs and private foundations) and to multiple instruments (from traditional official development aid to markets mechanisms and innovative finance) and generates both analytical and practical skills that our students will use to implement the next generation of development policies and practices. A special focus is put on acquiring essential skills in policy and project design and evaluation, finance accounting and applied economics, management and planning methods. The students will have the opportunity to choose a comprehensive set of courses in specific areas such as agriculture, health, urban issues, sustainability and more. In addition to the core courses of the Master program, students choose two concentrations. The PSIA concentrations are the full embodiment of the diversity of PSIA course offerings. Please refer to the concentration section included in the general summary of PSIA. Career opportunities In public agencies, national, regional, and local governments, as well as international organizations and agencies, MID graduates will work on the formulation, management and auditing of public policies and projects.
