Le Grand Syllabus 2016/2017
• The importance of digital media The teaching of digital journalism is a fundamental part of the training offered to all students, not merely an optional area of specialization. On whatever platform they find themselves working, students learn to work with the tools, functionalities, and challenges of online and mobile networks. The school even offers students the opportunity to put the power of computer code to work in their journalism, through discovery of the computer languages used by developers. • A focus on the future of journalism and new models The Sciences Po School of Journalism provides its students with the means to interrogate their future profession. Each year a conference is held on new journalistic practices. A significant event in the life of the school, attracting students and professionals from France and abroad, the conference has become a major forum for exploring the future directions and innovations in journalism, on both sides of the Atlantic. Students also have the opportunity to explore past and future economic models in the media through a course on the economics of the media. • A strong international orientation With the Sciences Po-Columbia dual degree program in journalism, fully one-third of the student body coming from abroad, journalism workshops given in English, partnerships with journalism schools throughout the world, and a reputation that extends well beyond the borders of France, students at the School of Journalism have access to journalism in its planetary dimension.
