École doctorale, Programme doctoral de science politique
This program offers research-based training by an internationally renowned faculty. Courses are taught primarily in French and English, and provide the necessary theoretical and empirical knowledge for a solid disciplinary training. Program The Master program is divided into three concentrations corresponding to the principal fields of specialization in the discipline: international relations, comparative political sociology, and political theory. In each of the three concentrations, coursework combines basic courses, method courses and specialized courses, as well as individual tutorials designed to provide each student with the readings they need to round out their initial training and then to define their field of interest and finally their object of study. For students interested in pursuing research in a particular cultural area, this tutorial can be given in the language of the area of interest (Arabic, Spanish, Russian, Chinese). Career paths The Master program is first and foremost aimed at training political science professionals and thus at preparing students for doctoral study and eventually a career in teaching and research, in France or abroad. From this point of view, it is possible for some students to study in the United States as part of a joint PhD degree program between Sciences Po and Columbia University. The Master program is also aimed at students who are interested in pursuing a wide range of fields outside academia: national and international civil service, consulting, journalism, publishing, non-profit organizations and NGOs.
