Orientation and speciﬁc features The program in History, in dialogue with the social sciences, provides rigorous theoretical and methodological training and seeks to foster critical thinking among future researchers. Specialized courses go into further depth on speciﬁc areas and objects of study: historical specializations represented in all their diversity; cutting-edge research approaches; research methods (statistics, visual material, oral history, archives). The Doctoral program in History is intended to be completed in three years. Applicants who do not already hold a Master’s degree must ﬁrst apply to the Master’s program in History. These students will receive a Master’s degree in history from Sciences Po at the end of two years and may then apply to the Doctoral program. Those who already hold a Master’s degree from Sciences Po or from another university may apply directly to the Doctoral program.
