What is Sciences Po?
Sciences Po is a global research university that is specialized in the social sciences. It offers degrees at the Undergraduate, Masters, Ph.D. and Executive Education levels. It also delivers preparations for French and European civil service examinations and academic accreditation agrégation in History and Geography. A unique and innovative model in the French educational landscape, Sciences Po aims to educate openminded and enlightened citizens capable of changing the world and transforming society. It provides multidisciplinary intellectual training rooted in the world of work through the diversity of its faculty from all professional backgrounds. Sciences Po’s academic community of more than 200 researchers works in units at the forefront of the world analysis of our societies that is used, in turn, to enrich coursework taught to students. By maintaining high selection standards while remaining open to all talents, Sciences Po hosts, on its seven campuses in France, 13.000 students. With 47% of student body holding a nationality other than French, the institution brings together 150 nationalities. Sciences Po proposes dual degrees and exchange programs with prestigious partner universities including University of California Berkeley, Columbia University, Freie Universität Berlin, Fudan University, Harvard University, Keio University, LSE, Hong Kong University. * The Grand Syllabus describes the entirety of the educational programs offered by the seven campuses of the Undergraduate College (ﬁrst cycle) and by the Schools, Masters and Doctoral Programs (second and third cycles) during the two semesters of 2017-2018. It presents their academic content and objectives, admission requirements and course choice by semester, and is completed with an alphabetically sorted course catalog, with detailed descriptions, instructors’ names, reading requirements, etc. Foreign language instruction, exam preparation programs, Executive Master programs offered by the Executive Education Division, as well as Sciences Po’s research centers and governance are subsequently described, followed by a list of teachings and by a teachers’ and researchers’ index. * Note: The course descriptions and list of instructors contained in this book are regularly updated by the faculty and thus are subject to change.
