The Nancy Campus—Sciences Po’s first international campus, created in 2000—offers a program focusing on the European Union as a global actor with France and Germany playing a dynamic role. The Nancy Campus fully affirms its European and multilingual mission: it is home to students of about 20 different nationalities, with equal numbers of native German and French speakers. Students and faculty work in three languages—German, French and English. Students with strong French and German language skills may, in addition to English, learn a fourth language—Arabic, Spanish, Russian, Italian or Swedish. Through a partnership with the University of Lorraine, students may opt to take a three-year course of study in Law or Economics, for which they are awarded an undergraduate degree. The Campus provides its small student body with facilities equipped with the latest information and communication technologies (laptop computers, Wi-Fi in all classrooms, e-courses on the campus, internal network, a video-conferencing system with the other campuses, etc.). The Nancy Campus organizes fieldtrips to a number of European capitals such as Berlin—Federal Chancellery, Auswärtiges Amt, Bundestag-ViennaUnited Nations, IAEA, OPEC, OSCE—and Brussels—European Parliament, European Commission, NATO. Students also have the opportunity to participate in a special spring session, Eurocosmos, which provides a simulation of European Union institutions. The two years on the Nancy Campus and the third year outside of France, leading to the Master Program in Paris, are designed to prepare the next generation of European leaders to understand and respond to the new geopolitical challenges of the 21st century.
