The "Beetle", as we commonly call in France, is the first car created and marketed by the brand known today as Volkswagen (people's car). The "Beetle" will also, in its early days, called "Volkswagen Type 1" or "KdfWagen", for "Strength Through Joy" or "strength through joy". Its success was staggering with nearly 22 million copies sold worldwide. This is also the fourth most sold car in the world! It was created by the famous Ferdinand Porsche. The "Beetle" will be officially presented at the beginning of construction of car plant in Wolfsburg, 26 May 1938; it is then called "Kdf-Stadt", the initials of a leisure organization controlled by the state, subsidized by the German labor front. The model presented is a rare "Split Model," this is the first generation of beetles produced post-war (1949-1953). The "Split" and its peculiarities: its rear window is in 2 parts "splitées" (separate), or double bezel, emblematic of this first generation of VW. Different versions will emerge, including the first version called "Kdf" to finish the version called "Zwitter" which ensured the transition to the "Oval" Beetle. Fully restored, our "Split" is in perfect presentation and operation. Everything has been redone as the cause, it is as beautiful as it left the factory. Its minimalist interior in gray fabric is beautiful, again in the rules of art. This model become very rare these days... it's a model that obviously arouses lust and interest of discerning collectors!
