One of the characteristics of this car is that she has had very few owners. According to her record file and to her current vendor, up until 2015 she was in the hands of only two people, one of whom kept her for 25 years. First delivered on December 4th 1987 by the concessionnaire Symbol Car Spa in Turin, she has only been lightly used during the past 15 years and has now covered only slightly more than 50 000 kilometres (31 000 miles). Her colour-scheme is as classic as it is attractive, with «Rosso Corsa» paintwork and black upholstery and carpets.` With her faultless bodywork, she appears to have been carefully looked after. In June 2016, she benefitted from a major service which included changing the timing belt. The interior is in good condition and the leather seats show no defects. The careful attention paid to this car by her previous owners is also shown by the presence of her wallet with service record and owner’s handbook, as well as her complete set of Ferrari tools.. This Turbo version, derived from the 328 GTS, is relatively unknown and is rarer than her non-turbo sisters. It was developed because the Italian tax system heavily penalized cars with engines of more than 2 litres capacity. This induced Ferrari to offer, largely for the Italian market, a 2 litre version, the 208, at the same time as the 308, launched in 1975. As one might suspect, the 208 had a lot less power than the 308. To overcome this handicap, the constructor turned to a technology that Ferrari had never previously used, the turbocompressor. The output of 219 bhp offered from 1982 onwards by the Ferrari 208 Turbo was much more acceptable and became even more so with the 254 bhp of the second version which came out in 1986, shortly after the 328 with which it shared a new platform. Simply badged «GTS» (or GTB in the closed version), it was produced in limited numbers with only about 1 130 sold until 1989. For Ferrari, the new technique was judged to be a success and turbo charging was adopted in 1984 for the 288 GTO and later for the F40. The car that we have on offer therefore combines exclusivity and performance and is in excellently preserved condition.
