In the early 1990s, Lee was invited to serve on the hospital’s Professional Advisory Board, a group of prominent leaders from the worlds of business and entertainment. The group’s mission was to develop ways to raise the funds needed to allow St. Jude’s to continue to conduct its research and to pay all expenses for patients and their families. As usual, Lee’s involvement didn’t end with his tenure on the board. He continues to be a generous supporter of St. Jude’s and countless other charitable organizations. His daughter, Suzie, says that through her dad’s example, she’s learned that when God gives you the ability to assist others, it’s your responsibility to do it.
Conair moved into the new millennium with gross sales in excess of $1 billion. A major milestone was the introduction, in 2000, of the global SAP communications system. John Mayorek oversaw the installation of the software that integrated computer operations and linked Conair facilities around the world.
