licensing agreement to create and distribute high-tech electronic scales for the Weight Watchers brand. Two years later the acquisition of the Thinner Scale brand, and an amendment to the Weight Watchers licensing agreement to include world markets, expanded Conair’s share of the scale category and moved it into the international market. Today Conair, which didn’t make a bathroom scale until 2002, is one of the major players in the category. With skilled engineers at R&D facilities in Connecticut, New Jersey, Belgium, Hong Kong, and Costa Rica, Conair continued to introduce premium new products nonstop. The group in Liège, Belgium designed a jaw clip with a patented hidden hinge that got immediate attention. And Cuisinart continued to expand its line with the innovative new Griddler and an extensive collection of other multifunctional countertop cooking appliances. The top echelon of kitchen product stores were eager for something unique, and Cuisinart’s latest lines were brand new and different.
